How do I start using it for free?
Just download HomeNet Navi from the App Store to start using it for free right away. No account registration is required. Basic take-home pay calculations, display of the 5 main income thresholds, and saving 1 scenario are free forever.
What are the minimum items for initial input?
Just enter the head of household's annual income and the spouse's annual income (salary) — only 2 items — and the household take-home pay curve reflecting the income thresholds will be shown. Dependents and additional deductions can be added later via "Detailed Input".
How up to date is the 2026 system coverage?
Calculations are based on the system as publicly announced as of 2026 for the main items of income tax, resident tax, and social insurance premiums. Specifically, it supports employment income deduction, basic deduction, spousal deduction, special spousal deduction (the ¥1.03M / ¥1.5M / ¥2.01M thresholds), health insurance and employee pension (the ¥1.06M / ¥1.3M thresholds), and various resident tax deductions.
What do the "thresholds" refer to?
This app covers the following 5 thresholds: The ¥1.03M threshold: the line where income tax starts being incurred / the spousal deduction is fully applied. The ¥1.06M threshold: the social insurance enrollment line for part-time workers at large companies. The ¥1.3M threshold: the social insurance enrollment line for leaving dependent status. The ¥1.5M threshold: the line for full application of the special spousal deduction. The ¥2.01M threshold: the upper limit line for the special spousal deduction. You can navigate directly from each threshold's detail screen in the app to the source pages of the National Tax Agency and the Japan Pension Service.
Does it support regional differences in resident tax?
The default calculation is based on the standard resident tax rate (10% income levy + per-capita levy). The Premium plan also supports differences for major municipalities. For the exact tax amount, please check the official information of your municipality or your resident tax notice.
Can the calculation results be used directly for my tax filing?
This app is a simulator intended to support "work-style decision making." It cannot be used as official documentation for tax filing or year-end tax adjustment. Always consult a tax accountant, labor and social security attorney, or financial planner before making important decisions.
How many scenarios can I save?
The free plan allows saving 1 scenario, while the Premium plan allows unlimited scenarios. You can compare multiple work styles side by side, such as "current vs. switching from shortened hours to full-time," to see the difference in take-home pay.
What can I see on the scenario comparison screen?
In addition to each scenario's household take-home pay, you can see the breakdown of income tax, resident tax, and social insurance premiums, and the differences between scenarios shown as amounts. Which "thresholds" were crossed or not crossed is also clearly indicated with color coding.
What does the "threshold approach notification" notify me of?
With the Premium plan, based on your cumulative salary for the year, a local notification tells you "you're within ¥XX of a threshold." All notifications are processed entirely on-device, with nothing sent to a server. You can toggle notifications on/off from Settings → Notifications.
Is there a free trial?
The Premium monthly and annual plans include a 1-month free trial. You can cancel anytime during the trial period, and even if you cancel, you can continue using the Premium features until the end of the trial period.
How do I cancel (unsubscribe from) my subscription?
Tap Settings app on your iPhone → your Apple ID (your name) → Subscriptions → HomeNet Navi, in that order, and select "Cancel Subscription." Note that deleting the app does not automatically cancel your subscription. You can continue using the Premium features until the end of your current billing period even after cancelling.
How do I restore my purchase after switching devices?
Install HomeNet Navi on your new device signed in with the same Apple ID, then tap "Restore Purchase" from the app's Settings. Your subscription will be restored automatically.
Where is the income data I enter stored?
Everything is stored on your own device (UserDefaults / FileManager). Nothing is ever sent to the developer's server. No cloud services such as CloudKit or Firebase are used. See the Privacy Policy for details.
What happens to my data if I delete the app?
All local data on the device is deleted. Since this app does not perform cloud sync, no data remains on other devices or in iCloud (except when included in your overall iPhone iCloud backup).
