Frequently asked questions
How is the real hourly rate calculated?
(Net total of issued invoices − that project's expenses) ÷ the hours you tracked. When no hours are recorded it shows "—", not 0 — those mean different things.
The numbers on the dashboard don't add up
Revenue, costs, hours and the hourly rate are all derived from the same set of projects. Projects without an exchange rate are left out of the total, and their count is shown as "Excluded: N projects without an exchange rate". Enter a rate and they join the total.
Why doesn't it fetch exchange rates?
Arari does not use the network, so you enter them. The next time you use the same currency pair, the last value you entered is offered as the starting point.
How is consumption tax rounded?
Once per tax rate per document, as the rules require — not per line item and then summed. Choose rounding down, up or to nearest under "Settings → My business" (down by default). A change applies to documents you issue from then on; documents already issued are not recalculated.
Document numbers aren't sequential
That is intended. A number is "type-issue date-4 characters", which prioritises never colliding. Sequential numbering is not required for a qualified invoice in Japan.
I want invoices in my client's language
Set "Document language" on the client. It is independent of the app's own language (Pro).
Moving to a new device
Use "Settings → Export a backup", keep the file, and choose "Restore from a backup" on the new device. If iCloud sync is on, signing in to the same Apple Account brings everything across automatically.
What does restoring do?
It replaces everything on this device with the contents of the backup. Export a backup first if you are not sure.
What is the free limit of 20 documents?
It is the lifetime total of estimates and invoices you can create for free. Deleting a document does not free up a slot. The 5-client and 10-project limits do come back if you delete an item permanently from the trash.
Can I still see my data once I hit a limit?
Yes. Limits apply only to creating new things. Viewing, editing and exporting what you already have always work.
What happens if I cancel?
Your data stays. Viewing and exporting PDFs and CSV files still work; only creating and editing stop. Cancel in your Apple Account settings.
I subscribed but Pro isn't active
Check that you are signed in to the same Apple Account, then use "Settings → Restore purchases" or the same button on the Pro screen.
Do I need to buy the Mac version separately?
No. iPhone, iPad and Mac share one App Record (Universal Purchase), so one subscription covers all three.
Can I lock the app?
Turn on "Settings → App lock" and Arari will ask for Face ID, Touch ID or your device passcode when you open it. It is free. It cannot be enabled on a device with no passcode set.
