Privacy Policy
This page explains how Kedgelog (“the app”) handles personal information and the content you enter.
What we collect
The app collects nothing. The developer receives no name, no email address, no device identifier, no location and no usage data.
Where your data lives
The app performs no network requests. There is no account, and nothing is sent to the developer. Your boats, gear records, photos, pre-departure checks, passages and tracks are stored only on your device.
If iCloud Backup is enabled, the app’s data is included in that backup like any other app’s. That backup is handled by Apple, not by this app. For that reason the app never claims that your data “never leaves the device”.
No analytics SDK and no advertising SDK are embedded, so the developer has no way of knowing how the app is used.
Device features the app uses
The app uses the camera, your location and notifications. Each is requested only when you first use the feature that needs it — never at launch. You can decline all three and still use the app.
- Camera — to photograph an item and the expiry date stamped on it. If you decline, choosing from your photo library (no permission needed) and saving items without a photo cover everything else.
- Location, while using the app — to record your track. “Always” is never requested. While a voyage is being recorded, the track continues even when the screen is off (iOS shows its location indicator throughout). Ending the passage stops background updates too. Recorded positions are stored on the device only and never transmitted. If you decline, you can add passages by hand.
- Notifications — to remind you before a date you entered arrives. If you decline, the in-app counts still work exactly the same.
Photo library access goes through PHPickerViewController: only the pictures you pick are handed to the app. The app never reads your library.
Exporting and importing JSON, CSV, PDF, GPX and ZIP files goes through the standard iOS share sheet and file picker. You choose the destination; the app does not record where you chose.
About sharing a GPX track
An exported GPX contains the exact positions you recorded, including where you started and finished. Sharing it tells others where your boat is kept. The export screen says so at all times, and offers to leave the first and last points of the track out. Whether to share is your decision.
Purchases
Full access is a single non-consumable in-app purchase. There is no subscription. Payment and purchase records are handled by Apple; the app never receives your payment details. All the developer can know is whether a purchase is active on that device.
Sharing with third parties
Because the app collects nothing, there is nothing to share. No ad networks, no analytics providers, no data brokers.
Children
The app is a general-audience app and is not directed at children under 13. In any case, it collects no personal information.
Deleting your data
Deleting the app removes its data from the device. You can also use “Settings → Delete all data” inside the app. Files you have already exported are outside the app’s control and are not removed by that action.
Changes
Any revision to this policy will be published on this page.
Controller, contact and your rights
This app is provided by freetokyo, an independent developer, who acts as the data controller. For any question about this policy or about personal data, contact freetokyo2020@yahoo.co.jp. We normally reply within five business days.
If you are in the EU, the EEA or the UK, the GDPR gives you the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict and port your personal data, to withdraw consent and to object to processing. You may also lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority.
If you are a California resident, the CCPA/CPRA gives you the right to know, delete and correct the personal information collected about you, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information.
Where this app stores data only on your device, we have no access to it, so most of these rights are exercised directly on the device: delete or export inside the app, or delete the app. We will still answer any request you send us.
Retention: on-device data is kept until you delete it or remove the app. Support emails are deleted 24 months after the request is closed.
