Lesson Report

The report is the form.

The lesson takes an hour. Writing it up afterwards takes longer than it should — remembering what happened, turning it into sentences, tidying the layout, sending it. Do that after every lesson and the admin grows faster than the teaching.

Lesson Report is not a logging app. It is a reporting app. The form you fill in is the layout of the report, so the one-page PDF for the parent is finished the moment you stop typing. All that's left is to send it, however you already message them.

What it does

One screen, top to bottom

Each lesson is recorded on a single scrolling screen. No navigating between steps. Only two fields are free text — the book or worksheet, and your notes for the parent. Everything else is a tap, a tag or a stepper. Sentences you write often can be saved and dropped in with one tap.

Last week's homework, on this week's first line

Whatever you set last time appears at the top of the next lesson's form. Tap one of three results — Done, Partly, Not started — and that continuity carries straight through to the report. "What happened with the homework you set?" is the thing parents most want to know, and it's the thing that gets forgotten when you're writing from memory.

It fits on one page

Name, year, date, length, what you covered, topics, understanding, engagement, last week's homework and how it went, the new homework, and your notes — all on a single page. Fields you left blank are removed entirely rather than printed empty.

The paper size defaults to Letter in the US and Canada and A4 elsewhere, and you can change it in Settings. Dates follow the language the app is showing.

No red on a student's understanding

In a school context red reads as wrong and failed. On a document a parent receives, a red mark against their child's understanding stops being a record and becomes a verdict. So "Review" is a calm blue-grey, not red. Nothing depends on colour alone either — each level also has a shape (●／◐／○) and a word, so it still reads when printed in black and white.

Monthly summary

A month of lessons on one page: how many, how long in total, the split by subject, and how understanding was distributed. Useful to hand over at a parents' meeting. There is no money column. It does not produce invoices.

Nothing is capped on what you record

Students, lessons and how far back your history goes are all unlimited, on the free tier. So is carrying homework forward, searching your history, iCloud sync, exporting your records, and deleting them.

On the free tier you can create three report PDFs a month and keep ten saved comments. Full access — as a one-time purchase or a yearly plan — lifts both limits and adds report templates you create and switch between, showing/hiding and reordering fields, your own logo and colour, and the monthly summary PDF.

History isn't capped because the value of this app is the continuity. A free tier that deleted anything older than three months would destroy the thing it was meant to demonstrate.

About your data

There is no account. There is nowhere for your records to be sent to us — we don't run a server for them. If you turn on iCloud sync (off by default), they go to your own iCloud, which we cannot read.

That said: even with sync off, this app's data is included in your iPhone's iCloud backup, or in a backup made to a computer. That isn't something an app can prevent, so we say so in Settings too, where it can't be dismissed.

The app lock uses Face ID, Touch ID or your device passcode — nothing else. There's no separate code of the app's own, which means you can't end up with your records restored to a new phone and no way to open them.

If a parent asks you to delete their child's data

Deletion comes in two levels.

• Delete this student's information (the default) — removes the name, year, the parent's form of address, your notes, the homework text and every report PDF. The dates, lengths and subjects stay as an anonymous record.
• Delete everything — removes the lesson record too.

Deleting in one sweep would also erase your own record of when and how long you taught. That record is what you'd reach for over a disputed payment or a tax return, so the default keeps it.

Deleting removes the data from this app. Copies inside backups that were already made are not affected.

Who it's for

Private tutors, independent teachers, and anyone teaching a small number of students one to one. Only the tutor uses the app. There is no student login and no screen for a student to fill in.
