Terms of Use
These terms govern the use of Nenrin (“the app”). Using the app is taken as agreement to them.
What the app is
The app is a record keeper and a care calendar. It is not horticultural advice and does not replace advice from a qualified professional, or your own observation of the tree.
Bonsai practice varies by school, by region and by practitioner. The job names, stage divisions and seasonal windows shown here record that such practices exist; no warranty is given as to their accuracy, completeness or suitability for any particular tree. Whether and when to carry out a job must be judged from the tree in front of you.
About the timings shown
Timings are an estimate derived from the species, the training stage, your region settings (hemisphere and climate zone) and the observations you enter. Where climate adjustment is enabled, the shift applied is an estimate based on weather obtained from Apple's WeatherKit, not a validated forecast.
Frost warnings are built by the app from forecast minimum temperatures. They are neither a republication of, nor a substitute for, alerts issued by a meteorological service. For weather alerts, consult the official service for your area.
Records use the device's local time. The app makes no claim that a record constitutes legal evidence that work was carried out.
Pricing and billing
Keeping up to three trees with unlimited care records, observations and photos, reading the full 30-species guide, the calendar by species and stage, re-anchoring from observations, reminders for up to three kinds of work, and ledger (CSV / JSON) and backup exports are free of charge.
Additional features — unlimited trees, the year-on-year view, climate adjustment and frost warnings, iCloud sync, the full archive including photos, the home screen widget and unlimited reminders — are available through an auto-renewing subscription named “Nenrin Premium”. It is offered for one month or one year, and the yearly plan includes a 7-day free trial. Prices per period are shown in the App Store and on the purchase screen in the app.
When a free trial ends, the price for the selected period is charged to your Apple Account. The subscription renews automatically, and is charged for the renewal period, unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Cancel under Settings → your Apple Account → Subscriptions on the device. Purchases can be restored at any time from the purchase screen or the app's settings.
Cancelling deletes no trees and no records. They remain readable, editable, deletable and exportable; only new entries beyond the free limits are paused. iCloud sync stops, and nothing on the device is deleted.
Looking after your data
You are responsible for the content you enter. As no data is held on a developer server, please keep your own provision against loss, damage or replacement of the device.
A ledger export (CSV / JSON) is not a backup. It writes your records out as a table and cannot be read back. Where you need to restore, use the backup (JSON) or the full archive (ZIP, Premium); only the full archive restores photographs.
Intellectual property
The app and its bundled species guide are the copyright of the developer. The records, photographs and notes you enter remain yours, and the developer makes no use of them.
Prohibited uses
- Modifying or decompiling the app
- Use for any purpose that breaks the law
- Recording or distributing content that infringes the rights of others
Changes and discontinuation
The app and these terms may change or be discontinued without notice. Weather is provided through Apple's WeatherKit and sync through Apple's iCloud; a change in the terms on which those are offered may make the features that depend on them unavailable.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Japan. The Japanese version is the authoritative text; other languages are reference translations.
Contact
Limitation of liability (overriding)
Notwithstanding any other provision of these terms, Except in cases of our willful misconduct or gross negligence, our liability for any damages arising from your use of the app is limited to the amount you paid us for the app. Where such a limitation is not permitted by mandatory law, we are liable to the extent that law provides.
