Chezlog

A job log for cooking in someone else's kitchen.

For iPhone and iPad. Available in English and Japanese.

What it does

  • Kitchen notes for each home: cooking surface, burners, oven, counter and fridge space, plates, entry, parking, waste, photos
  • Client cards: allergies, intolerances, dislikes and faith-based restrictions kept apart, with the date consent was obtained
  • Restriction check at the ingredient level — including what hides inside stock, roux and sauces once you copy the label in
  • Shopping list from the menu: scaled to guests, adjusted for the usable portion, rounded up to the pack you buy, grouped by aisle
  • Timeline counted back from the serving time, with one lane per burner and oven and one lane for your own hands
  • Bring list: what your dishes need, minus what the kitchen has, checked against your own gear
  • Served history with a two-level repeat warning (household and guest)
  • Cost: food including waste and a flat estimate for your own seasonings, kept apart from travel and assistants
  • Photos of the kitchen before and after, receipts and dishes
  • PDF documents: quote, billing summary, shopping list, timeline
  • Encrypted backup and restore
  • Biometric lock and two-step deletion of a client's data

Remember the kitchen you cook in

Two burners only, a small oven, a lobby buzzer, guest parking that has to be booked ahead — the things you only learn once you are there. Chezlog keeps them per home, and the next time it tells you what to bring. Anything the kitchen does not have and you do not own either is listed separately, as something to get or design around.

Counted back from the moment you serve

Two steps cannot share one burner. In the same way, two steps that need your full attention cannot happen at once. Chezlog gives every burner and oven a lane and gives your own hands a lane too, then lays the steps out backwards from the serving time. Setup after you arrive, the interval between courses and the teardown are part of it — so you can see how long the job really takes.

What could not be checked is shown too

Your client's restrictions are matched against the ingredients in your dishes. Stock, bouillon, roux and sauces carry allergens that are not in their name; copy the label in once and the check finds them.

Even then the check is not complete. That is why Chezlog shows two numbers and nothing else: how many ingredients match a restriction, and how many could not be checked. Packaged items with no label copied in, a pan or frying oil you shared, and seasonings from the client's own kitchen all land in the second number. The check is based only on what you enter — the final check is always yours.

Pricing

Keeping records is free and unlimited. Client cards, kitchen notes, menus, served history, the restriction check, the timeline, the bring list, costs, photos — and encrypted backup and restore — are all free.

Chezlog Premium (monthly or yearly, auto-renewing) adds PDF documents, CSV for bookkeeping, combining a third job and beyond into one shopping list, unlimited menu templates, and the widget and reminders. See the Terms of Use for the conditions.

If you cancel, everything you recorded stays readable, editable and exportable, and documents you already created can still be shared again.

How your data is handled

Chezlog does not send the data you enter. No account is required. Records are kept on your device and the developer cannot access them. There are no advertising or analytics SDKs.

There is no sync. To move your records to another phone, or to survive a lost one, you need to create a backup file yourself — which is a free feature.

What it does not do

No client matching, no payments, no nutrition analysis, no sharing with clients, no tax calculation.

This is a tool for keeping records and getting the timing right. It does not guarantee the prevention of any allergic incident, and it does not provide medical, nutritional or legal advice.
